The Faculty of Language, Literature and Humanities, Department of English and American Studies, invites applications for a

Junior Professorship for „Teaching English as a foreign Language / Didactics”

starting with 1 October 2020.

The professorship will be positioned in the field of English Language Education / Didactics (Fachdidaktik Englisch) and should represent a profile including one or more of the fields of “Inclusive Education and Sustainable Development” and “Multilingualism and Pluriliteracy”. Successful candidates have visible experience in basic or classroom research.

Candidates must have a required minimum experience in school and university teaching. In this case, this implies at least three years’ teaching practice at schools. We are looking for a person with experience in interdisciplinary cooperation, an eagerness to become actively involved in and accept responsibility to contribute to existing networks and collaborations within the department and beyond (e.g. Langscape). Candidates will be expected to develop research projects for third-party funding.

Curriculum courses are to be offered in the BA English as well as the Master of Education English programs. This includes tutoring students during their school internship. The appointee is expected to actively participate in academic self-administration.

Very good German language proficiency will be expected.

The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in accordance with § 102a of ’Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
