  • The University of Virginia, American Studies Program, seeks applications to fill non-tenure track Lecturer positions during the 2019-2020 academic year. We are seeking multiple lecturers to offer 5 courses in the American Studies Program during Fall 2019 and/or Spring 2020. Courses should either be able to fulfill core requirements for the concentrations in Visual and Popular Culture and in Race and Ethnicity or to count towards the Latinx minor. We are particularly looking for courses on U.S. Latinx experience, history, or culture (including transnational Latinx, Afro-Caribbean, and comparative ethnic studies approaches), and on broader courses covering U.S. visual culture (art, film, media). Courses will have estimated enrollments of 20-40 students and should be taught in a discussion-based format.

A maximum of 3 courses per lecturer.  Compensation will take the form of wages.


    Candidates must possess either a Ph.D. in American Studies or a related field (including but not limited to Film and Media Studies, Art History, Religion, English, Music, Sociology, History), or be ABD in a Ph.D. program in American Studies or a related field.
