Posting Summary

Rutgers University – New Brunswick seeks a part-time instructor to teach two sections in a new, innovative, online, and asynchronous course in global art history; the subjects covered begin with prehistory and end around 1400. The learning goals of the course are to gain awareness of major artworks, architecture and objects of material and visual culture from prehistory to the late medieval period in a global context and to familiarize students with the methodologies and core concepts of global art history

The successful candidate will begin teaching in the Fall 2022 semester and may be invited to continue teaching the second half of the art history survey in Spring 2023. The class is supervised by a professor in the Art History Department; the successful candidate will be responsible for no more than 40 students; the successful candidate will grade papers and exams, review online discussion boards, maintain communication with the students, and participate in planning meetings with the other instructors.

Each member of the team will have the option to prepare one class module consisting of a ten-minute recorded lecture, a reading, and discussion questions.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

MA in Art History or related field, PhD in Art History or related field; PhD students in the post-qualifying exam stage will also be considered.

Teaching Experience
Equipment Utilized
Familiarity with Canvas, Rutgers’ Learning Management Software, a plus, Rutgers Electronic Grading System.
