Description

Lecturer: Comparative Literature Program

Apply by January 8, 2021 for primary consideration.

The Comparative Literature Program at UC Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach courses in the Comparative Literature Program for upcoming openings. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department.

Qualifications:

• Basic: ABD or equivalent and at least one year of teaching experience in a college or university at the time of application.
• Additional: completion of the Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) in Comparative Literature or other cognate fields by the start date of the position.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching experience and philosophy, and contact information for 3 references. References may be contacted for finalists. Teaching evaluations are optional (and will be required for finalists).

The Program is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The use of a lecturer pool does not guarantee that an open position exists at the time you are applying. All application materials must be submitted online via UC Recruit at https://recruit.ap.ucsb.edu/JPF01891

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Also, please note that the Department cannot reimburse travel or moving expenses for interviewing or relocating to our campus and that benefits such as health insurance may only be allocated to full-time employees.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
