Why Your Role Matters:
The School of Engineering and Technology (SET) is seeking applications for Education Focused lecturer positions in the following courses (single or multiple courses) which are part of the UNSW Canberra Master of Capability Development:

Master of Capability Development Courses (CTMC):

  • ZEIT8016 Capability Development
  • ZEIT8213 Communications and Information Systems
  • ZEIT8205 Fundamentals of Surveillance Technologies

These courses are offered in face-to-face semester-based delivery mode at UNSW Canberra. This role works extensively with Defence and will be educating the next generation of Australian defence leaders and scholars in areas of capability management and communications, information, and surveillance systems.

UNSW’s Education Focused roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialisation will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the University’s teaching and learning communities.

These roles will contribute to course and program delivery, development and innovation, in a collaborative environment.

We strongly encourage applications from those with traditional academic backgrounds, but we equally encourage applications from those outside academia who bring other discipline related experiences.

Who You Are: 
Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have a PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development.
  • Experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level and/or Defence leadership cohorts. 
  • Experience working with defence areas such as capability management and communications, information, and surveillance systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches (including implementing educational technologies and innovative and effective delivery methods), development and delivery of courses and programs, to undergraduate/postgraduate and/or Defence leadership cohorts.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with Defence and/or industry to create applied learning.
  • Evidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Eligibility:

The successful candidate will be required to work from the UNSW Canberra campus. To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. UNSW is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
