Given the interdisciplinary and evolving nature of the field, Food Studies at UCLA is looking for our instructors to represent multiple perspectives, and we encourage applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds to apply. The Food Studies 187 course will introduce students to permaculture, an evidence-based approach to sustainable living and food production that has spread throughout the world. Students will examine what permaculture is and explore examples of how it can be applied in a variety of environments, both urban and rural. The course will explore the ethical framework of permaculture and the key principles that form its foundation. UCLA has a diverse student population in one of the more diverse cities in the nation; we particularly seek candidates who have taught similarly diverse students in a major research university.
