Position description

LECTURER, FOOD STUDIES

The UCLA Food Studies minor unit is seeking a lecturer for Fall 2023 (Academic Year 2023-24) to teach an upper division undergraduate course in the Food Studies program. The Food Studies 187 course will introduce students to permaculture, an evidence-based approach to sustainable living and food production that has spread throughout the world. Students will examine what permaculture is and explore examples of how it can be applied in a variety of environments, both urban and rural. The course will explore the ethical framework of permaculture and the key principles that form its foundation.

UCLA has a diverse student population in one of the more diverse cities in the nation; we particularly seek candidates who have taught similarly diverse students in a major research university.

Required Qualifications:
• An earned PhD degree from an accredited university
• College-level teaching experience
• Knowledge and training in the field of food studies, sustainability, food science, food justice, or related fields

Preferred Qualifications:

• Capable of delivering high-quality, innovative instruction to a diverse student body
• Evidence of creating safe, collaborative and inclusive learning spaces

Requirements:
