The Learning Design and Innovations Department at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) invites applications for an Educational Developer in a one-year limited-term contract, reporting to the departmental chair and the Director of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. This is a faculty position that includes professional role and service to the university, profession and/or community.
Position Summary: Working within the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CELT), the purpose of the Educational Developer position is to provide strategic leadership toward the enhancement of teaching, learning, and assessment, and to lead and collaborate on initiatives to strengthen and support pedagogical principles and practices in teaching and learning environments across TRU.
General Summary of Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities: Supporting and providing leadership to faculty on a wide range of teaching and learning matters; evaluating teaching and learning strategies, collaborating, and problem solving with TRU faculty, administrators, and teaching assistants; designing and coordinating relevant functions, activities, events, learning spaces, and resources; supporting faculty and administrators on demonstrating and assessing scholarly teaching, and on producing and assessing scholarship of teaching and learning.

What TRU Offers
Instructional Support I faculty positions range from TS 1 though 12 with an upper limit at TS12 of $110,800. Placement on the Salary Scale is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between TRU and TRU Faculty Association (TRUFA) with initial placement based on education and experience. This position offers an annual Professional Development Allowance, participation in a Defined Benefit Pension Plan and 100% employer paid benefits, which include extended health & dental, sick leave and short term and long-term disability.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise and excellence in teaching within a post-secondary environment and a strong knowledge of current practices and trends in the field. Experience in educational development and pedagogical mentoring of faculty are highly desirable. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work constructively as part of a team. The successful candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to the goals of the Centre and the institution, such as inclusion and diversity of thought and people, community-mindedness, curiosity, and wise stewardship.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful candidate will have experience in making and evaluating pedagogical choices; effective written and verbal communication; demonstrate a high level of skill working with technology for teaching and training; and experience working with undergraduate and/or graduate students.
