The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of UNSW’s newest faculty, Arts, Design & Architecture (ADA). Through creativity, collaboration and inclusion we seek and solve problems to improve life on earth. We listen, challenge, create and share diverse knowledge about people, place and culture to enable lives with purpose.

We are six schools, six research centres, home to three prestigious ARC Laureates, the stunning Esme Timbery theatre and Creative Practice Lab, UNSW Galleries, iCinema, the Design Futures Lab, and multiple other maker spaces, Institutes, Labs and Studios across our Kensington and Paddington campuses.

As a new faculty, it is our priority to develop an Indigenous Strategy to affect long-term change in the educational outcomes of Indigenous students and the intellectual and cultural integrity of Indigenous teaching and research across the faculty.

A Level A/B academic is expected to make contributions to the teaching effort of the school and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly, research and professional activities relevant to the teaching profession and education discipline.

A successful Level A-B candidate will also be considered for the award of a position on the prestigious UNSW Scientia Program

About the UNSW Scientia Program

The UNSW Scientia Program is one of the cornerstones of UNSW’s 2025 Strategy. A primary goal of the Program is to enhance UNSW's research performance by attracting and retaining exceptional early to mid-career researchers, with outstanding research track records. Scientia academics will be leaders in their School and Faculty and engage with the three pillars of social engagement, global impact and academic excellence.

UNSW Scientia academics have access to a range of development opportunities including career coaching tailored to their level of experience across research, teaching and leadership. Scientia academics will be mentored and will also develop the skills required to become mentors and research leaders themselves.

Appointments are made on a Convertible Tenure Track contract.  The initial engagement is for 4 years fixed term with the possibility to convert to continuing tenure.  The Scientia Program also allows flexibility to take research breaks to do other studies, take an industry engagement or follow other interests.  We are also open to part-time appointments.
