DescriptionThe Urban Teaching Apprenticeship Program at the University of Pennsylvania is recruiting a part-time lecturer to teach the courses “Secondary English Methods” and “Advanced Secondary English Methods.” These courses take a practice-based approach to learning asset-based, student-centered and historically responsive English Language Arts practices for grade 7-12 educators. The courses focus on how literacy practices can and should be situated in the communities where we teach and reflective of our students' identities using an intersectional lens. These courses seek to spark observation, analysis, and reflection that will guide secondary teachers to become lifelong learners who enact antiracist and culturally sustaining pedagogical practices. “Secondary English Methods” is taught as an evening course in the Fall term and “Advanced Secondary English Methods” is taught as an evening course in the Spring term.
