Job Purpose

Lecturing in the Intermediate (and Foundation) Phase Departments: English Home Language.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A relevant Masters’ degree in Education with English as a major at Bachelor’s level
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • At least five (5) years’ recent experience in teaching English Home Language at school level or two (2) years" relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level
  • Knowledge, understanding and experience in the preparation and evaluation of meaningful teaching experiences for Intermediate- and Foundation Phase students
  • Experience and knowledge of support and differentiated teaching for learners experiencing barriers to learning related to Language

RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • A relevant Doctoral degree
  • Evidence of relevant research outputs
  • Knowledge and understanding of CAPS in the Intermediate Phase
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance and challenges of Intermediate Phase teaching in the 21st century
  • Solid grounding in the subject (English) as well as the teaching methodologies
  • Experience in the planning, designing and editing of teaching and learning materials (including electronic)
