The University of Washington Tacoma’s School of Education (SOE) invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer Temporary (non-tenure track) position to teach one online graduate level (2-3cr course) during the winter 2020 quarter. The appointment period is for 3 months: 12/16/19 – 3/15/20.

Course Description:

T EDUC 563 Cultural and Linguistic Contexts for Instructing English Language Learners:  Examines research on the social contexts of learning and teaching English as a second language. Analyzes multidisciplinary studies on culture in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and language policy. Understands how educational environments impact second language learners' attitude and identities as well as teachers' instructional approaches. This is an online course.

  • Masters or doctorate in Education or related field
  • Extensive knowledge of bilingual education, multicultural education and sociolinguistics research, theory and practice
  • Experience working with multilingual/immigrant children, families, and communities.
  • Experience working in diverse k-12 educational settings
  • Commitment to social justice, anti-racist, and de-colonizing education
  • General understanding of how to use an online Learning Management System to instruct a full online course.
