Duties and responsibilities

  • Teaching (incl. e-courses) at all levels of higher education, using modern teaching methods and educational technology. Lecturer of Estonian as Foreign Language develops and teaches courses of Advanced Estonian to non-native Estonian speakers: courses of Estonian (level C1), translation and conversation courses, Estonian word formation system, structure and vocabulary courses.
  • The tasks of a lecturer are also related to creating web-based study materials, developing and teaching e-courses (C1-level, vocabulary, pronunciation); creating other courses and study materials, supervising students at the first and second level of higher education, and popularization of his/her field.
  • The lecturer is expected to develop his/her teaching skills and skills necessary for RDC activities.
  • Teaching and teaching related activities make at least 40% of hours of work.
  • Participation in RDC activities under the supervision of a professor or associate professor. Research makes at least 20% of hours of work. Research in five years at least in the volume equivalent to that of 2/3 of a doctoral thesis.
  • Participation in the work of the university’s decision-making bodies is recommended.
  • Required qualifications
  • PhD or an equivalent qualification.

Required experience

  • The candidate must have the ability and experience to teach at the first two levels of higher education, incl. to supervise students of the first and second level of higher education and to develop and teach web-based materials and courses.
  • Knowledge of modern study aids, learning environments, learning methods and their development opportunities is required.
  • Earlier teaching experience in an institution of higher education is expected.
  • Experience in supervising students is recommended.
  • Professional research, the volume of which is equivalent to that of at least one doctoral thesis, is expected.

Required language skills

Excellent command of Estonian; English and Russian skills sufficient for professional communication.

Salary is negotiable, minimum 1600 euros (gross) per month, remuneration based on UT Salary Rules.
