Lecturing in the Foundation Phase Department: Grade R to 3 Numeracy and Professional Practice

• A relevant Masters’ degree relevant to Foundation Phase Numeracy
• A relevant teaching qualification
• At least five (5) years’ relevant teaching experience in a Foundation Phase classroom or two (2) years’ experience teaching Foundation Phase Numeracy at tertiary level
• Knowledge, understanding and experience in the preparation and evaluation of meaningful teaching experiences for Foundation Phase students
• Solid grounding in the subject (Numeracy) as well as the teaching methodologies

Recommendations:

• A relevant Doctoral degree
• Evidence of research outputs
• Experience and knowledge of support and differentiated teaching for learners experiencing barriers to learning related to Numeracy
• Knowledge and understanding of CAPS in the Foundation Phase
• Knowledge and understanding of the importance and challenges of Foundation Phase teaching in the 21st century
• Experience in the planning, designing and editing of teaching and learning materials (including electronic)

• Teaching Foundation Phase Numeracy and Professional Practice
• Administrating, supervising and evaluating teaching experiences of Foundation Phase students
• Numeracy learning support for and in multilingual classrooms
• Academic development and administration
• Curriculum development and other learning material
• Conducting research in Numeracy Learning and Teaching
• Community engagement
• Quality assurance and Assessment
• Networking with schools and other partners
• Personal and professional development

• Other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
