Position description

The Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of California, Santa Barbara, invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach lower and upper-division lecture courses on the History of Art and Architecture. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The availability of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the department's needs.

Courses needed may include a large lower-division and upper-division lecture courses on African Art. Additionally, we may have an upper-division lecture course(s) or an undergraduate seminar in museum studies. The Department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position.

The posting will remain open until March 31, 2023, to accommodate department needs. The pool will close on March 31, 2023; if you would like to continue to be considered after that time and the pooled position is advertised again, you will need to submit a new application.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

An MA in History of Art/Architecture or a related field, and one year of teaching experience required at the time of application.

Preferred qualifications
  • A PhD in History of Art and Architecture or a related field is desirable
  • Two to three years of teaching experience
