Lecturer in Language
The applicant is expected to have extensive academic teaching experience especially in the area of language teaching. In addition, they should have at least a master's level degree in a relevant field, as well as a sound knowledge of current pedagogical research and practices in at least some of the following areas: language skills assessment, content and language integrated teaching and learning, teaching multilingual and/or multidisciplinary groups. Experience with various modes of teaching is also a bonus. Successful performance in the position requires an open mindset to working with others and good interaction skills. An adaptability to change and the ability to manage a full and varied workload is also of key importance. University level studies in disciplines other than languages and knowledge of the Finnish university system is an advantage, as well as experience in teaching students from a variety of disciplines and cultural backgrounds. The duties, qualification requirements and language skills for the position of University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. The Centre for Multilingual Academic CommunicationThe Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication (Movi) is a multicultural expert unit of academic language learning and teaching. Movi’s primary task is to organise communication and language studies for all bachelor’s and master’s degree students at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU), in compliance with Government Decree 794/2004, as well as to support the internationality of the university.
