The School of Arts & Media is one of the leading centres for practice-based education in the creative disciplines in the North West. We offer research-informed specialist programmes which benefit from close relationships with the cultural industries. The Directorate of Music is a large and diverse community comprising three undergraduate degree programmes, a foundation year, MA with multiple pathways and unique doctoral programs. As one of the longest standing institutions offering tuition in popular music and music technology, it is home to 450 students. 


Our programmes seek to embed wider professional skills development and a strong working knowledge of the creative industries into the student experience. The Music leadership team works in partnership with a wider range of university and industry professionals who support and facilitate these ambitious programmes. We have an excellent record of working with the professional creative industries, engaging with communities and equipping students with the necessary skills to enter a range of professions. 


The Directorate is seeking a candidate for a 0.4 FTE lectureship with expertise in music business, arts administration, intellectual property, and demonstrable experience in industry-facing and outreach activity. As Lecturer for Music Enterprise & Engagement, the successful candidate will be required to teach, develop and coordinate modules in ‘Professional Development in the Creative Industries’ and ‘Professional Practice’. In addition, they will make a significant contribution to the Directorate’s broader engagement and research activities. They will possess relevant industry experience, a developing research profile and the ability to respond to industry and cultural shifts as they impact the regional, national and international arts ecology. Experience of teaching and subject leadership/coordination in a higher education setting is essential.

Role Purpose 

To develop and deliver high-quality teaching material across a range of modules or short programmes. To contribute to the planning, design, development, and leadership of programmes. To engage in scholarly activity and undertake high quality research.
