The School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for a temporary teaching-focused Lectureship in Psycholinguistics.

The School seeks an exceptional individual who will provide leadership and excellence in teaching and learning in the Department of Linguistics and English Language. You will teach modules which are offered as options on the Undergraduate and MA programmes in Linguistics and English Language and on joint undergraduate honours programmes with either of these subjects, and as enhanced options to MA students of Linguistics. These include a 2nd year module in Psycholinguistics, an MA module in Psycholinguistics, a 3rd year module in First and Second Language Acquisition (which is also open as an Enhanced Option to MA students), and a 1st year module in an area of your choice complementing our existing programme.

You will be expected to teach all lectures and seminars/tutorials, including any additional tutorials for MA students, to undertake all the marking, and to update existing course materials and a virtual learning environment on Blackboard for those modules, to hold two office hours per week, and to answer student queries by email and/or on the module’s discussion board. You will also be expected to supervise a small number of undergraduate and MA dissertations, deliver pastoral care to students, and participate in recruitment activities.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
