About the Role 

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, is looking to appoint to a Lecturer in Russian Studies. 

Duties will include research and publication, convening and teaching undergraduate modules, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, (co)-supervising PhD students, and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department. The successful candidate will be able to develop new modules, and adapt existing ones, in line with their specific research strengths. Evidence of high-quality research and publications in renowned journals is also expected. You will be able to develop new modules, and adapt existing ones, in line with your specific research strengths.

Applications are invited from specialists with a research background in one or more of the following areas: Russian Literature of the nineteenth century and comparative approaches to Russian literature. We would especially welcome applications from researchers whose work traces connections between Russia and non-European cultures or who engage with discourses of post-colonialism.

The modules you will teach in the semester starting January 2023 are Russian Novel: Self and Society, a contribution to Culture and Language (a content module) as well as to final year Russian language teaching translation into English and commentary.

About You 

You will hold a PhD in Russian studies or a related subject, or a relevant professional qualification or equivalent professional experience, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The post is full-time and permanent, expecting to start 1 January 2023 or earlier by negotiation. Starting salary is Grade 5, ranging £43,069 - £45,479 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
