Position description

The UCLA Music Department invites applications for a part-time lecturer position of string pedagogy for the Music Education Program. Salary commensurate with applicant qualifications and experience.

The responsibilities will include teaching violin, viola, cello and bass as secondary instruments to music education majors and providing them with the pedagogical skills necessary to teach string instruments to elementary, middle and high school students in classroom and ensemble settings.

Applicants should have an established reputation as a performer and teacher with expertise in the skills necessary to nurture future music educators. A post-baccalaureate degree is preferred.

The application deadline is August 31, 2021, with an anticipated appointment date of October 1, 2021. Applications should include a letter stating interest in the position and a philosophy of teaching, comprehensive resume or curriculum vitae, online audio and/or video links representing the applicant’s playing, and names and contact information for at least three professional references.
