Duties and responsibilities
  • Lecturer of Estonian language teaches courses of Estonian orthography and composition, language editing and language planning at all levels of higher education.
  • The tasks of a lecturer also include supervising students at the first and second level of higher education, to be university practice supervisor, to create study materials, to participate in activities related to development of teaching, and popularization of his/her specialization.
  • Lecturer is expected to develop his/her teaching skills and skills necessary for RD activities.
  • Teaching and teaching related activities make 40–65% of hours of work (344–559 work-hours in a year).
  • Participation in RD activities under the supervision of a professor or associate professor.
  • Research in five years at least in the volume equivalent to that of 1/3 of a doctoral thesis (at the workload of 0,5).
  • Participation in the work of the university’s decision-making bodies is recommended.

Required qualifications
PhD or an equivalent qualification.
Required experience
  • The candidate must have the ability to teach at the first two levels of higher education, incl. to supervise students of the first and second level of higher education.
  • Earlier teaching experience in an institution of higher education is expected. Experience in supervising students, teaching e-courses and experience in language editing is recommended.
  • Knowledge of modern study aids, learning environments, learning methods and their development opportunities is necessary.
  • Professional research, the volume of which is equivalent to that of at least one doctoral thesis, is expected.
Required language skills
Excellent command of Estonian, English skills sufficient for professional communication.
Starting at
Remuneration based on UT Salary Rules. Salary is negotiable, at the workload of 0,5 the minimum salary is 700 euros (gross) per month.
