Lecturer (Scholarship): Primary Education




We are seeking a positive, flexible, and dynamic new Lecturer with innovative and visionary ideas in the area of Primary Education.  As a Primary generalist, you will teach across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.  Through collaborative planning and teaching, you will deliver excellent teaching and learning opportunities, as well as supporting students’ pastoral, learning, and assessment, needs.

You will be a qualified teacher (QTS), eligible for GTCS registration, with Primary teaching experience and will participate in school visits to undertake student practicum assessments.  Experienced Primary teachers with expertise in board curriculum areas will be considered for the roles.


You will be passionate about education and teaching; possess intellectual curiosity; and be committed to your own, and others’, learning.  As an enthusiastic educator with expertise in the Primary curriculum, you will have a good understanding of the wider context and policy area of education.


As an inspirational teacher, your students will be motivated, creative individuals, with a strong understanding of social justice and global citizenship.  The post holders will also have experience of contributing to new thinking and ways of working in a teaching setting.  You will be a qualified teacher (QTS), eligible for GTCS registration.  You will have an international outlook, and be excited about opportunities which may arise to work internationally.


A higher degree in a discipline area appropriate to the post is desirable.


You will have a positive, inclusive, and collegial personal style.  You will have the capacity to develop excellent relationships both internally, with university decision-makers and colleagues; and externally, with educational partners in national, and international, contexts.


Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 salary scale (£40,792 - £48,676 pro rata per annum) and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.


Any appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references and a 12 month probation period.
