Te Kura Toi Tangata School of Education is seeking to appoint a full-time continuing Lecturer or Senior Lecturer who can contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision. Knowledge and understanding of te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and primary years education is required in order to contribute to teaching in the School's Māori medium initial teacher education programmes.

A PhD is required at Senior Lecturer level and preferred at Lecturer level. A research record of sustained excellence and a recognised contribution to the academic field appropriate to the level of position applied for are essential. Current research informing, Māori medium, Mātauranga Māori and second language acquisition practices is preferred. The candidate will also have demonstrated success in undergraduate teaching including the ability to lecture to large numbers and conduct small group seminars and tutorials effectively as well as a relevant teaching qualification.

The appointee will teach in a number of courses in the school's programmes in Hamilton and Tauranga, in their field(s) of expertise and contribute to Māori medium teaching, including at least one curriculum learning area (e.g. Pāngarau, Hangarau, Mahi Toi, Tikanga-ā-iwi, Ngā Reo or, Hangarau Matahiko), as well as contribute to the teaching of papers on the professional practice of teaching including innovative uses of digital technologies. Applicants should indicate their particular areas of curriculum and professional practice strength. Ability to contribute to doctoral and/or masters level supervision for theses/dissertations to be submitted in te reo Māori is desirable.

The University is committed to Māori and Pacific learner success. Fluency in te reo Maori is essential and an understanding of development as it applies to Pasifika communities would be advantageous.

Current salary range for Lecturer is NZ$75,514 to $90,946 and Senior Lecturers NZ$93,544 to $123,726, dependent on qualifications and experience.
