Lectureship in Sociolinguistics and Discourse Studies

University of Bern offers a Lectureship in Sociolinguistics and Discourse Studies in the Department of English starting 1st February 2022 (permanent position).

The tasks of the successful applicant will be:

•To teach 4 courses (8 hours of teaching) per semester at both BA and MA levels;
•To assist in student support administration;
•To supervise student dissertations at BA and MA level.


Academic requirements for this position are a completed PhD with a good publication record.

Although the language of teaching and administration in the Department is English, the language of the Faculty is German. Successful candidates should, as a minimum, commit to acquiring a good working knowledge of German within two years of taking up their post.
