The Music Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of part-time Lecturers who may be appointed to teach various courses at the lower and upper division course level. We seek applications from outstanding candidates with relevant teaching experience who can teach various topics in music theory, music literature, musicianship, and orchestration.

Applicants with experience in college level teaching or who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the Music undergraduate and graduate programs (Music Ph.D., D.M.A, and M.A.) through teaching and other assigned duties are strongly encouraged to apply.




Commensurate with qualifications and experience and the particular courses the Lecturer is appointed to teach. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year.

Master’s Degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Music (at the time of application) or four years of artistic and creative work consisting of a national and/or international record of performances, exhibitions, or installations in music venues, museums, galleries, and festivals, and evidence of scholarship in peer-reviewed journals, web, and/or book publications (at the time of application).
