The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a temporary Part-time Lecturer in Japanese Language for Spring quarter 2019 with an anticipated start date of April 1, 2019.


We seek a Japanese language instructor to teach one course during spring quarter 2019. Preferred: native or near-native command of Japanese and English; demonstrated excellence in college-level Japanese language teaching in the United States; familiarity with the textbook, GENKI.


Duties and Responsibilities include:
-Teaching instruction for a 1-hour section Monday through Thursday 
-Weekly office hours: two-hour duration
-Participation in meetings with other Japanese Language faculty, as needed
-Supervision of Teaching Assistant assigned to the section


Minimum Requirements include a PhD in Japanese linguistics, language pedagogy, second-language acquisition, or a relevant field.
