About the position

At the Department of Teacher Education (ILU), a doctoral scholarship in the field of initial education in Norwegian and / or mathematics is announced, with an emphasis on the role of the conversation in education. This is an educational position that will give promising research recruits the opportunity for professional development and lead to a doctorate.

Initial training in Norwegian and mathematics is a growing field of research and teaching at the ILU. Central to the work on beginner education is the understanding of the conversation as a fundamental for all development and learning during the first school years. On the basis of this, relevant applicants are invited to outline a doctoral project focusing on how the conversation is used - and can be used - to promote pupils' linguistic and / or mathematical competence in the small school stage. Within these limits, there will be room for the research fellow to focus and develop his / her project in accordance with his / her own professional interests.

The scholar must connect to one or more relevant research groups / projects at the institution - eg. Conversation in school and education, Beginner training in mathematics, Functional writing in the first school years or Linguistic diversity in school and society.

The scholarship position starts in 2019, preferably in the period August-December. The position can be four-year and include teaching assignments by relevant subject section at the ILU, or three-year without such work (with a four-year scholarship, 75% of the position will be used for PhD studies and 25% of the position for teaching tasks). Both start-up time and possible. Teaching assignments are determined in cooperation between the appointed fellow, the research community and the host institution. Workplace is at the Department of Teacher Education at Kalvskinnet in Trondheim.
