The position is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years starting from 1 January 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. Introduction We are looking for candidates with a doctoral level background in computer science, machine learning, natural language processing, computational social science, computational linguistics, or similar fields, who are interested in working collaboratively to apply computational methods to the domain of Atlantic colonial history. The postdoctoral researcher’s primary role will be to develop and implement NLP methodologies that can aid the team in effectively retrieving, processing, analyzing, and interpreting relevant historical documents. Most of these documents are available as scans of printed originals and were written in several languages. The ideal candidate will be someone enthusiastic about overcoming the challenges imposed by this type of textual data. Duties and Responsibilities
