Remuneration: Pro-rata of $101,130 - $120,093 pa Level B (plus 17% employer superannuation)

The Opportunity

In the Faculty of Education, Peninsula campus, the first National Programmatic Study of early childhood science, engineering and technologies has been established. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join our high-performing team. This position is part of a team of Senior Research Fellows, 6 PhD students, and a Research Officer who will work over five years on the programmatic study aimed to research conceptual play by examining imagination in play and imagination in science, engineering and technology.

The successful applicant will work closely with Laureate Professor Fleer and be within an established team to continue the research activities associated with the ARC Laureate Fellowship programmatic research. Specifically, the focus is on researching the outcomes of professional development of 3,000 early childhood teachers in STEM. This includes the dissemination of results, social media posts, video production and other resource development associated with a series of educational experiments into STEM Conceptual PlayWorlds. Delivery, data collection and analysis of professional development across a broad range of STEM Conceptual PlayWorld programs (zoom, face-to-face, asynchronous on-line, mixed mode) will constitute important activities of the successful applicant.

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have demonstrated experience in delivering and researching professional development programs for early childhood teachers through zoom, face-to-face, mixed mode, on-line asynchronous delivery, including recruitment of participants, dissemination of results, and ongoing social media support. With a flexible attitude and the ability to adapt to any circumstance, you will be able to consult and liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders. You will be passionate and have demonstrated the ability to work independently and in teams in a research environment as part of PlayLab.

This role may require some after business hours professional development delivery and flexibility to go full time as work demands increase over time. You may also be required to work face-to-face in a PlayLab (in line with government health advice) to mentor and support the development of team work.
