Position Summary

The Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University is seeking outstanding candidates for a fixed-term (non-tenure stream) faculty position in the secondary music education teacher preparation program. This is a part-time position (academic one-year appointment, August through May). Primary responsibilities will be in the Lansing area.

The successful candidate will teach required classes in music education; ensure program compliance with state and national accreditation standards; collaborate with the College of Music; maintain ongoing relationships with the local music education community and the field of music education

Position rank will be at the level of Instructor ( Must have master's degree or have been employed as an instructor or equivalent elsewhere) or Assistant Professor (Must have a terminal degree). Appointment will be for one year beginning fall 2022, with possibility for reappointment.

Minimum Requirements

A master’s degree in music education or a relevant field.

Desired Qualifications

A doctoral degree in music education or a relevant field. Appropriate PK-12 teaching experience and relevant college-level teaching, specifically in elementary, secondary, or special education; experience working with teaching interns and PK-12 district partners and community organizations; experience guiding masters and doctoral students in curriculum and instruction in elementary, secondary, or special education teacher preparation.
