Description
The Department of English at The University of Texas at Austin, in conjunction with the New Writers Project and the Michener Center for Writers, seeks to hire a tenured fiction writer with a distinguished publishing record at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
Job duties include:
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses
Directing honors theses and MFA reports
Mentoring talented student writers
Providing service to the department, college, the New Writers Project, the Michener Center, and the university
Maintaining a high level of publishing productivity
We seek candidates with a record meriting a Professorship or Distinguished Chair in Creative Writing (Fiction).
Qualifications
MFA, PhD, or equivalent (as demonstrated through an outstanding publishing career)
Minimum of two published books of fiction
Substantial teaching experience
Preferred qualifications:
A substantial and high-quality publication record
A national reputation in fiction writing
An excellent teaching record
