Applications are invited for appointment as Professor/Associate Professor on tenure terms or Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Linguistics in the School of Humanities (Linguistics) (Ref.: 530396), to commence on September 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment as Assistant Professor will be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
 
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics, or a related field. The ideal candidate will have an exemplary research record and a transdisciplinary approach cutting across subfields. We seek to hire a scholar whose research addresses one or several of the following themes: (1) developing and analysing language interfaces between humans and machines; (2) uncovering links between language, nature, culture, and social organization (3) examining the forces of language emergence, evolution, and linguistic diversity.
 
The appointee will be thoroughly familiar with cutting-edge methods relevant to their area(s) of specialization and employ excellent data science skills. The successful candidate should have experience collecting and analyzing large and small corpora, preferably typologically diverse, and approach language research from an interdisciplinary perspective. Experience with multilingual populations and working with under-resourced languages is a plus.
 
The successful applicant will join a dynamic team of researchers committed to pushing the boundaries of linguistic knowledge and its applications in the modern world. They will be expected to lead research initiatives, mentor junior researchers, and contribute to the academic community through re, and knowledge exchange.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary for fixed-term appointment.
