The Institute of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a position as a
W1 Professorship of the Linguistics of the Romance Languages (m/w/d)
to commence as soon as possible.
The position is initially limited to four years, with the possibility of extension by a further two years after a positive interim evaluation.
The successful candidate will be expected to take part in teaching the Institute’s Bachelors and Masters programs. The position has a teaching load of four hours per week prior to interim evaluation, and six hours thereafter. The successful candidate will carry out independent research activities in the field of diachronic linguistics, pragmatics, or in contact linguistics. The core areas of the work should be in the area of French and in another Romance language - preferably Spanish. The holder of this position will be expected to participate in both linguistics-focused and interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
This position provides the opportunity and expectation that, in the course of the contract, the W1 Professor will attain the research and teaching achievements that will qualify him or her for a subsequent appointment as a tenured professor at a university or equivalent institution.
Required qualifications include an outstanding doctorate in a pertinent field, noted publications, and teaching experience. The appointment prerequisites of § 51 LHG apply.
Those who have completed a habilitation will be excluded.
