Research Assistant I/II in Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 495512) (to commence as soon as possible or not later than 1 September 2019 until August 31, 2021 on a fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary)

 

Applicants should possess (i) a Bachelor’s degree in statistics, child development, cognitive/social psychology, education, epidemiology, public health, child and adolescent health or other relevant fields, and (ii) a good background in research design and advanced statistics. Priority would be given to those who have a higher degree in related areas, demonstrated expertise in conducting empirical research involving surveys and quantitative analysis, or familiarity with statistical software packages (e.g., R, Mplus).

 

The appointee will work on the project “Learning and Assessment for Digital Citizenship” (http://www.rss.hku.hk/links-resources/spotlight/trs-6th-round) funded by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council under the Theme-Based Research Scheme and led by Professor Nancy Law and Professor Jimmy de la Torre of the Faculty of Education, as well as other research team members. The project aims to address research questions about the impact of digital media on human development and everyday life of children and youths. Cutting-edge research designs and instrumentation are being developed and deployed to address the grand challenge of understanding and assessing digital citizenship development as a human capacity and its relationship to children’s learning lives (formal, informal, digital and non-digital). The project also develops online serious games for the learning and assessment of collaborative problem solving.

 

 He/She will be working within a medium-sized multidisciplinary research team to address research questions at the intersection between child development, media, technology and learning. This position is beneficial to those who wish to pursue an academic career with interest in pursuing further studies in the related areas.
