Research Associate (Fixed Term) in Faculty of Education

The Research for Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre within the Faculty of Education wishes to appoint a Research Associate (RA) to contribute to large-scale mixed methods research and evaluation for the new multi-year multi-million-GBP EdTech Hub. The programme is funded by the United Kingdom's Department for International Development. 

You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary group of internationally recognised researchers, within a consortium of six main partners and other organisations based in a number of low-income countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Asia and elsewhere. The aim of the research is to understand how EdTech can support education systems change, improving outcomes for all learners in a scalable and sustainable way. The focus of the post will be on qualitative data collection and analysis methods within mixed methods designs. You will be expected to work collaboratively with our international partners and undertake overseas trips for various purposes. 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Education, Educational Technology, Development Studies, Economics, Psychology or other relevant subject area and have proven skills in undertaking qualitative research. Applicants must have experience in contributing to writing, with the ability to manage own workload to tight deadlines. Understanding of educational research and research methods, including in international development contexts and/or related to educational technology use, is desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders are essential.

The position is available effective from 01 September 2019. 

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance. 

The post is full-time.
