RESEARCH ASSOCIATE FOR THE PROJECT “Inscriptions
and Paintings Structuring Sacred Space”


- SALARY LEVEL 13 TV-L -


The position in accordance with Section 28 subsection 3 of the Hamburg higher education act
(Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) commences on 1 August 2019.
This is a fixed-term contract in accordance with Section 2 of the academic fixed-term labor contract act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz, WissZeitVG). The term is fixed for a period of 3 years.
The position calls for 39 hours per week.


Responsibilities:
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.


Specific Duties:
Research in the frame of the project “Inscriptions and Paintings Structuring Sacred Space”. The
aim of the project is to reconstruct and interpret inscriptions and emblem paintings in early modern church furnishings and to analyze their structure-giving function.


Requirements:
A university degree in a relevant subject plus doctorate. Preferred is a degree in the field of Literary Studies or Theology, including a very good knowledge of Neo-Latin literature, early modern
emblematics and devotional literature. The position requires project experience and fluency in
English, written and spoken.
