Job no: 499269

Work type: Fixed term / Full time
Location: Sydney, NSW
Categories: Post doctoral research fellow

  • One of Australia’s leading research & teaching universities
  • Vibrant campus life with a strong sense of community & inclusion
  • Enjoy a career that makes a difference by collaborating & learning from the best

At UNSW, we pride ourselves on being a workplace where the best people come to do their best work.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW is a leading research mathematics school in Australia and enjoys a strong international reputation. The Department of Applied Mathematics at UNSW is one of the largest and most successful in Australia. The School is an active centre for fundamental research and has a particular strength in the area of fractional calculus.

The Research Associate will undertake collaborative research on an ARC-funded Discovery Project entitled: “New mathematics to improve understanding of anomalously diffusing reactions”.

The core of this project is to create a mathematical framework that generalises existing approaches to reaction diffusion modelling, taking into account observations of complicated transport behaviour at many scales, and including the impact of this anomalous transport on reactions. The development of the framework will involve mathematical techniques from a range of areas, including dynamical systems, fractional calculus, and stochastic processes. The project may be approached numerically, analytically, or some combination of both.
