Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the field of Humanitarianism/Conflict Response with a particular emphasis on attacks on healthcare in conflict-affected areas. The research project “Researching the Impact of Attacks on Healthcare” is funded by the DFID (with future funders anticipated) and is led by the Humanitarian and Conflict Response Institute (HCRI) at the University of Manchester, in collaboration with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.


This post is based in the HCRI (, hosted by the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, at the University of Manchester.  You will contribute to research about the instances and impacts of attacks on healthcare, including medical personnel and facilities, across the all five project outputs.


You must have a completed PhD (or equivalent) in disciplines relevant to or an interdisciplinary degree in humanitarianism, conflict studies, or global health and have experience in conducting high quality academic research, including field research.
