Position Summary
Applications are invited for the role of Research Fellow in Sean- Agus Meán-Ghaeilge (Early and Medieval Irish) within Scoil Léann Na Gaeilge (School of Irish Learning).
 
The aim of the Disappearing Text Project, based in the Department of Early and Medieval Irish at University College Cork, is to produce semi-diplomatic editions of the manuscript witnesses to Acallam na Senórach ‘The Dialogue of the Ancients’, the premier text of the Finn Cycle, alongside ‘minimal’ and ‘maximal’ critical editions.
The successful candidate will become an active member of the Disappearing Text Project and will take responsibility for preparing one semi-diplomatic edition of a vellum manuscript witness to Acallam na Senórach. The Research Fellow will mentor a Post-doctoral Researcher who will also be responsible for preparing one semi-diplomatic edition of a vellum manuscript witness to Acallam na Senórach and will work with the Principal Investigator on the critical edition and translation — with linguistic and textual notes — of the oldest version of the Acallam, which will be published in book format.
 
Post Duration: 30 Months, Specific Purpose, Whole-Time Post
 
Salary: €63,958 - €69,692 per annum, IUA Research Fellow Scale
