Senior Lecturer in Cello
Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programmes in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies and research in the artistic field and music education.
The Academy of Music educates musicians, composers, organists and music teachers and offers a doctorate programme in music education and in music. The Academy includes 800 students, 200 employees. The Academy has an extensive contact network with the wider music and cultural scenes and schools. This includes close contact with both concert venues and various institutions and organisations. Two hundred concerts are produced every year.
Senior Lecturer in Cello Scope of employment: 40% of full-time.
Work duties
Work duties also include planning and implementing masterclasses and projects, as well as arranging guest lecturer visits within the subject area.
The position also covers running research/artistic development work, and certain administrative tasks connected to field.
We expect you to cooperate actively with colleagues within the field/discipline, for example by taking initiatives and planning for collaborations with institutions both within and outside the University.
Qualification requirements
The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate teaching expertise.
The position requires at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education, or equivalent knowledge acquired by other means. If there are special circumstances, the successful candidate may undergo the required teacher training during the first two years of employment.
Your professional level needs to be very high artistically, for example as soloist, orchestra musician and/or chamber musician. A music performance degree or other degree in music from a higher education programme is required. Good knowledge of English is also a requirement.
Assessment Criteria
An extensive network within the artistic field, especially in the music and performing arts area, is an asset.
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how your experience and skills complement and strengthen the discipline within the department, and could contribute to its future development.
