Our Digital Media division’s ( industry-focused UG programmes in Digital Design and Visual Effects and Motion Graphics, and specialist PG programmes, are highly regarded within the Creative Industries and yield high employability among our graduates each year. We teach with a particular emphasis on balancing both creative and technical skills as we strive to shape the next generation of multi-skilled, creative digital professionals. In addition, all of our undergraduate courses include an optional placements programme which adds to our success of securing our students’ future employability. Many of our alumni work in leading companies within the Creative Industries and we draw regularly on their working experience to shape our curriculum and research activities.


About the role

We are looking for candidates with relevant teaching and recent research experience and industry expertise in one or more of the broad areas of digital design, visual effects, and motion graphics, but not limited to:


  • VFX acquisition, compositing and CGI;
  • 3D design and 3D animation (including effects animation);
  • motion graphics design and applications;
  • immersive design (virtual, augmented and mixed reality);
  • creative technologies (especially AI and games);
  • mobile, Web and IoT design and development;
  • UX and interaction design;
  • applied media aesthetics;
  • digital graphic design;
  • digital photography and video production (including post production);
  • brand design.

The ideal candidate will be able to impart an appropriate blend of theory and practice for students to creatively design and realise digital solutions as engaging assets, artefacts and experiences. The ability to help our students’ network and work with the Creative Industries to expand our reputation in the area would be a key requirement.  You will be closely engaged in enhancing the research profile of the Digital Media Division.


About you

You’ll be passionate about the subject area and have experience of stimulating creativity in students and/or professionals through delivering courses in higher education and/or training in an industry setting. You’ll be a great communicator, well organised, with the ability to work positively with colleagues. The role requires a commitment both to the student experience, tutoring and supervision, as well as to research.
