Duties and Responsibilities

The Arts and Sciences BASc is now established as the leading interdisciplinary arts and sciences undergraduate programme in the UK. We are looking for a dynamic teacher to work with us to continue the development of the BASc’s ground-breaking curriculum.

The Department has a great potential to expand and this temporary appointment seeks to support the existing programme for a fixed term to assist us in growing the department and help develop a new Masters-level programme.

The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in the co-ordination and delivery of the department’s first year compulsory Core modules (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/basc/current/core), in particular, Interdisciplinary Research Methods and Approaches to Knowledge, and to assist with the co-ordination of final year dissertations.

Additional duties will include: acting as a Personal Tutor on one of the four degree pathways; assisting in the development of a Masters programme in Creative Health (particularly the development of Master-level modules in Advanced Interdisciplinary Research Methods and Conceptions of Interdisciplinarity).

Key Requirements

Educated to at least Masters level in a science and/or a non-science (i.e. social science or humanities) field and with a PhD in any relevant area, you will be committed to both broad areas of knowledge in sciences/engineering, humanities/social sciences and have a hybrid educational background. You will, further, have an interest in interdisciplinarity, especially with respect to interdisciplinary pedagogy, curriculum design and course management. You will be deeply committed to student learning across disciplines, engaged in conversations about the purpose of higher education in the 21st century and interested in the wider student experience. Previous experience of teaching in a university department is required.
