English Composition Term Assistant Professor or Term Instructor

 

The George Mason University Department of English seeks applicants for a full-time one-year renewable position (Term Assistant Professor or Term Instructor) to begin in the Fall 2019 semester. Responsibilities:
Primary responsibility will be to teach first-year composition and/or advanced composition (separate sections of advanced composition offered for business, humanities, social science, natural science, and multidisciplinary). Schedule may include classes that begin as early as 7:30 a.m. or as late as 7:20 p.m.

 

The standard teaching load is 4/4, and the starting salary is $45,000 without a terminal degree and $50,000 with a terminal degree (MFA or PhD). This position requires presence on the Fairfax Campus; it cannot be carried out remotely.


Qualifications:
MA in English or Rhetoric and Composition or MFA required; PhD in Rhetoric and Composition preferred.

At least two years experience teaching composition is required. Graduate coursework in pedagogy, experience in online writing instruction, and experience working with multilingual writers strongly preferred.
