The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) is one of the most renowned and largest universities in Germany.


Within the framework of the research project funded by the City of Munich:


"The Munich City Administration under National Socialism"


, two PhD student positions are to be filled at the Chair of Contemporary History of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) for the following topics:
1. Nutritional hierarchies . Foods of town company
2. The city and death


In its fourth phase of research, the overall project, which has been running since August 2009, focuses on urban food supply as an elementary part of rule practice. This topic will be examined, including its gender historical dimension, urban-rural relationships, and the context of the exploitation of occupied areas. On the other hand, it is about the transformation of the funeral and burial culture under the conditions of ideologization, politicization and the mass death in the war. In addition to the activity of municipal offices and public forms of remembering the dead, private aspects of dealing with death should also be included.

The overall project is managed by Hans Günter Hockerts, Christiane Kuller, Winfried Süß and Margit Szöllösi-Janze and carried out in cooperation with the city archives of Munich. For conception and previous results cf.;

Expected to be a relevant, with very good results completed university studies, interest in innovative social and cultural historical approaches to contemporary history and willingness to intensive archival work in close cooperation with the overall network of the project.
