Further requirements:


Research focus: Investigation of the language system of Spanish on the basis of contemporary theorizing with a focus on sociolinguistics;

at least one more focus in the areas of "multilingualism research", "language acquisition" or "language change";

Expertise in at least one other Romance language in research and teaching;

excellent international research activities;

international university teaching experience;

Experience in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects.

Expectations for the future activity:


In addition to the official duties resulting from § 99 BerlHG in particular, the following activities are also expected of the person appointed:


Participation in and development of third-party funded research projects and research networks of the department;

Establishment and expansion of international cooperation in research and teaching;

Teaching in all courses of study of the faculty with linguistic parts, in particular in the newly established Bachelor's program "Language and Society";

Consideration of gender and diversity aspects in teaching and research;

Willingness to acquire any missing knowledge of the German language within three years.



The recruitment of the candidate as a temporary civil servant is intended for a period of initially five years. The temporary university professorship is associated with the commitment that, following this, the appointment to the indefinite university professorship will be made without a new call for tenders if the candidate has successfully completed the tenure evaluation. For this purpose, benefits are agreed when filling the temporary university professorship, the fulfillment of which is reviewed in the course of the evaluation procedure (§ 102 c BerlHG).


The agreed performance requirements will basically refer to the following areas:




Youth development,

Academic self-government,

Human Resources Management,

Language skills.

In addition, at the time of appointment to the permanent university professorship, the general conditions of employment must be met.


Incidentally, applicants who have completed their doctoral studies at Freie Universität Berlin and / or are working full-time at Freie Universität Berlin are subject to the provisions of § 102c (3) in conjunction with § 7 BerlHG .
