Freie Universität Berlin is looking for a junior research group leader (postdoctoral researcher) for the cluster of excellence "Contestations of the LIberal Script (SCRIPTS)". 

SCRIPTS examines the current debate about the model of liberal democracy and the market economy from a historical, global and comparative perspective. It combines Berlin's existing expertise in social sciences and regional studies, and collaborates with research institutions in all regions of the world and practice institutions from politics, culture and society [http://www.scripts-berlin.eu].

The main task of the YOUNG GROUP is the development, implementation and analysis of a comparative survey in at least 15 countries from all regions of the world. The aim of this survey will be to determine to what extent the liberal order is supported or rejected by people living in different countries and regions of the world and how differences between and within countries can be explained; the survey should include an experimental component. Applicants are invited to submit their own ideas and projects related to the main research questions of the Cluster of Excellence. They should develop a research outline for the junior research group (consisting of a postdoctoral researcher and two doctoral students).


- Conception and management of a junior research group on the topic defined above 
- Supervision of two PhD students of the junior research group 
- Participation in activities of the cluster of excellence 
- Dissemination of scientific results through the preparation of publications and participation in conferences 
- The opportunity to teach exists but not required.


- Completed academic studies and above-average doctorate in sociology, political science or economics with a good knowledge of quantitative methods.


- Knowledge of comparative survey research related to SCRIPTS

- Very good knowledge of the research area that SCRIPTS deals with and relevant theories 
- Very good English language skills 
- Experience in the coordination of research projects 
- Good writing skills , evident from excellent publications
